Maha Gayatri Matha – Origin & Glory

“Na Gayatryah Param Mantram, Na Matuh Paradaivatam”

There is no mantra superior to Gayatri; there is no deity greater than the Divine Mother.

The Gayatri Mantra appears in the Rig Veda.
Adi Shankaracharya explained:

“Gayaan Trayate Iti Gayatri” — That which protects the life forces is Gayatri.

Tradition holds that Sage Valmiki structured the 24,000 verses of the Ramayana
in alignment with the 24 syllables of the Gayatri Mantra.

Dhyana Sloka Meaning

Gayatri Devi is visualized as five-faced, three-eyed, radiant in pearl, coral, gold, blue and white hues, adorned with a crescent moon crown, holding divine symbols such as Abhaya, Varada, Ankusa, Pasha, Shankha, Chakra and Lotus.

The Gayatri Mantra

Om Bhur Bhuvah Swah
Tat Savitur Varenyam

Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat

This mantra invokes the divine solar consciousness to illuminate and guide our intellect.
